I came in Guangzhou with two others girls from my university, and here in Jinan, we met a lot of foreigners, dutch, canadian, spanish, american… We decided to go to Guilin Longji (rice terrace) and Yangshuo all together.
We took the fast train for three hours to go to Guangxi province.
Guilin had become a real chinese city. People everywhere, noise everywhere and a lot of chinese tourist. We saw little lakes with traditional chinese towers.
From there we took a bus to go to Longji, to see the rice terrace. 2 hours bus in a full bus where people were standing during the whole trip. When we arrived, we had to climb the equivalent of 106 floors to reach our Hostel. The weather there was much colder than in Guangzhou or Guilin, wind and less than 20 degrees, and sunny, perfect ! When we arrived there, we saw something really strange. Old women were holding basket to carry luggages of tourists across all the valley. It was really peaceful and quiet. We were far from the noise of the city, car horn… We tried special food, chicken cooked in bamboo (all the chicken, heart, feet…).
During our visit i wonder how many steps we climbed. At the hostel the owner were really friendly. He told us that since he opened his hostel (5 years ago) it was the third time he received foreigners. He was calling us 'jia' that means family, offered us his homemade rice wine. Chinese hospitality once more is the best.
From there we took a bus back to Guilin to take an other bus to go to Yangshuo. We stayed there for 2 nights, 3 days. We rented bikes for all of us and we went to take a ride, all along the Li river and we found 'my favorite place' that is my timeline picture of this blog. Let me show you:
We rided during the whole day, across this wonderful and peaceful landscape. Here is from far my favorite place we visited during our semester. We met amazing people, saw beautiful places, ate special food, had a lot of fun. I really miss this place now I'm back in GZ!
